About

Hi-di-ho friends!

My name is Melissa, I’m a First Time Mom (FTM) to a little dude named Felix. I’m married to a pretty rad First Time Dad (FTD) named Jonathan. Because Felix was born in April 2020, I thought I should chronicle our experiences of being First Time Parents (FTP) during a global pandemic.

Jonathan and I have been together for 4+ years, and having a little family to call our own was on the horizon after we decided to get married and have our honeymoon in Croatia last year. It didn’t take us long after returning back to Canada that I wound up pregnant. To say we were excited would be an understatement!

My pregnancy was pretty much your run-of-the-mill story. It really wasn’t until the tail end of the last trimester where things started to get a little hairy. Felix decided to hunker-down in my pelvis real hard, which caused for an incredible amount of pain, so the doctors thought it best to take me out of work early and my last day of working was March 15, 2020. This day, coincidentally enough, was the same day in which our whole world started to change drastically as FTP’s. This just so happened to be the same day that the COVID-19 pandemic was declared in Canada. So not only was I pregnant during a pandemic, but I also had the pleasure of giving birth during it too.

The purpose of this blog is to showcase the bonkers-banana-ness of having children during a global pandemic through the eyes of a FTM. In no way shape or form is this meant to be a how-to-guide, nor a top-ten tips or tricks of anything. I hope that you’ll get a chuckle or two reading this blog and hopefully conjure up some empathy for someone you may know who is doing this whole child rearing thing during a pandemic.

ENJOY!
